This was the first regional european seminar to be organised by Italy and Austria in over 30 years. It took place on 26, 27 and 28 April in Udine, in the Italian Friuli region.
The Austrian and Italian federations joined forces to organise a seminar in the town of Udine (in the north-east of northern Italy), led by two 6th dan kyoshi, Giorgio Lucchesi sensei and Diethart Leopold sensei, who are both responsible for teaching in their countries. The course lasted two and a half days, from Friday to Sunday lunchtime.
It was an opportunity for three Belgian kyudokas and one from Luxembourg to come together for an intensive course, among 30 participants from Austria and Italy, whose grades ranged from mudan to godan. Divided into two shajo of fifteen practitioners, the work focused on taihai, sha and preparation for the rhythms of shooting exams and taikai (individually and as a team).
Several sharei took place during the course: hitotsu mato sharei with two, three and four shooters, and the traditional yawatashi.
The atmosphere was warm, and the silence in the dojo almost permanent. It was impressive, and led to some high-quality work.
The choice of Udine was excellent, the weather was kind to us (rain during the work periods!), and the temperature ideal.
Thank you to the organisers for the warm welcome, the excellent dojo and the choice of venue.
